Photo by @bertiegregory // An Antarctic fur seal checking me out on the Island of South Georgia in the South Atlantic Ocean. Whilst filming for my new series for @ナショナルジオグラフィック (launch date announced soon), I spent a lot of time in the water with these curious seals. Moments before I took this image, I was actually facing the opposite direction filming a different individual underwater. I had a strange feeling I was being watched so I popped my head up above the surface. As I turned around I found this seal’s mouth wide open trying to nibble the back of my wetsuit hood. Its large teeth might look scary but it was just being curious. Although on land this species is known for being extremely aggressive, in the water they're much more relaxed. It then quickly realised my hood wasn't a chew toy so it slipped into the water and began biting my fins. Shortly after, it lost interest all together and swam away.
