This week, #OneHandClapping curator Xiaoyu Weng (@xiaoyuxiaoyuxiaoyu) is taking over the Guggenheim’s Instagram to give you a behind-the-scenes look at how the exhibition came together.

I’m Xiaoyu Weng, The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Associate Curator at the Guggenheim. Featuring new works by five artists, “One Hand Clapping” is a commission-based exhibition. At the beginning of this process, I invited the artists to think through a set of keywords, including “future,” “ghost,” “utopia,” and “togetherness,” and each artist’s work responds to those words in different ways. The title of “One Hand Clapping” came from a koan—a riddle used in Zen Buddhist practice to transcend the limitations of logical reasoning. In this post, you can see a “mini” version of the show when I worked with models of the museum to create the exhibition’s layout. #GuggenheimTakeover
