CASTING

Every season about 12-14 days before the show, casting the models begins with @bitton and her team at @establishmentny as they set up shop on our 9th floor. Our elevators fill with models, some we know and a whole lot more we have never seen. Greeted by Anita’s smile, her radiant energy and kindness, each model is asked to do a “little walk” and then have some photos taken by @_jahmad in front of a white seamless. Full face, three quarters and a profile shot. Hundreds of photos are put up on boards and then presented to @kegrand. Here is where the editing and adding starts. I would guess that within a season Anita and Katie see about two thousand models! I don’t get involved with the casting process or edit until a few days before the fittings. That is when my ‘Fosse Fantasy’ kicks in and selecting the models is like choosing performers for a play or musical - a theatrical performance. Together we choose the characters in the cast that inspire me the most and suit each individual look perfectly. That’s how we do it. Maintaining her positive and pleasant attitude through out long days and nights and not to mention a myriad of very different, “personalities and egos,” Anita and her team book, schedule, reschedule, deal with agents and their needs and desires all the while taking care of each model - making sure they are comfortable and fully taken care of... Anita’s God-given maternal instincts keep the cabine energized, enthusiastic and eager to keep things moving and get the show on the road.
