Oh! Diane!! Or, the dream team of @diane.kendal and @marcbeauty! I feel so fortunate to work with @sylvie.rouaix our MJ team @kendo and the perfect ‘light touch’ hand and unerring eye of the lovely and incredibly talented @diane.kendal. Usually (as was the case this season) initial make up conversations start with our references and asking Sylvie to match and develop a large amount of custom colored Eye-conic eye shadows (in a finish we have yet to develop) and the same order for Enamored Nail Lacquer. For the request for eyeshadows I was very clear, confident and straight forward - I’d been looking at the very flat, sheer transparent eyeshadow images from early 70’s make up advertisements. What I really loved was the naïveté. The lack of shading , contouring, etc.... a full sweep of matte sheer colors from the top of the eyelid to the bottom of the brow. I also love what I call the, “old school” satin finish nail colors. Absolutely no glitter, no changeante (or ‘flip’) as it’s now referred to. No little mermaid or unicorn fantasies for us. Just pretty colors in a luster of a satiny finish. “Just,” hahaha. After @kegrand and I made our comments and the colors and finishes were corrected we handed over the lot of them to Diane. She had a look and took in the inspiration boards, the hair colors and where we were at that point with the hairstyles and the photos from our fittings. After we all chatted, Diane began to offer up her different options and variations of the ‘eye’ and apply them to the models eyelids who had already had their hair cut, dyed and styled. We all looked at the girls together and individually before Diane tweaked the look until we decided that her idea of a dark line to define the eye should be tailored to what suited each individual girls eye shape - accentuating the inside and outside corners and just above the lash line. She added a finish of enamored lip gloss to the lips, slightly darkened the brow and started with a base of our 24-H Shameless foundation to keep the girls complexion dewy, sheer and natural. Pretty, ‘finished’ and the perfect colorful solution for the RUNWAY 9.12.18 MARC JACOBS look!
