It has been what seems forever to finally sit down and enjoy a quiet moment to simply feel the movement of a pen across pages of paper. I’m behind in my journals and planners and am a little OCD about going back to fill in all the memories while they’re still fresh. This year has been a whirlwind of grief and celebration, rough grit and blissful joy. Life doesn’t compartmentalize it neatly in rows or boxes. It all seems to get intermingled. During some of my worst moments, especially with my dad’s passing, I experienced a new appreciation for the little parts of each day. And during some of my happiest moments, starting a new chapter with Floyd and our family, I experienced the sorrow of not being able to call my dad and have him tangibly be a part of it even though in many ways he was still there with us. It’s been a bittersweet journey but in all of it I still feel grateful and still have more hope than ever. Life is so precious. That’s why I let go of journaling, being on the phone and the usual fare this summer for awhile. I felt it was important to really immerse in the memories being made and to fully experience and be in them because there is no better keeper of memoirs than one’s heart. Thank you all for riding it all out with me here. I really mean that. I don’t know if I would have weathered the terrain as well if it weren’t for all the kindness and support around me. It’s not to be taken lightly and even though this is just social media, it’s still a place of connection and life and I’m forever grateful for the kindred spirits that I’ve been so blessed to become acquainted with here. Thank you all for being you and lending your time and cheer to us here. You all are amazing.
