We visited Indian painter Akbar Padamsee at his studio to see his monumental landscape ‘Rooftops’ – one of his first works during his ‘grey period’, and a highlight of our Asian Art Week auctions in New York.

‘Rooftops’ represents a momentous turn in Padamsee’s artistic style and is also a critical meditation on colour, form and movement – this examination of painting continues to shape and inform his work even today.
