@アレックス・オノルド is larger than life. It’s not just his extraordinary ability, its his personality, incidental humor and utilitarian approach to life that make him so unique. This approach is made no clearer than in @jimmy_chin & @mochinyc new film #FreeSolo. In spite of the well know spoiler that Alex successfully free solos El Cap, they strip down how raw the stakes are and take you on a journey that had me emotionally all over the board. Admittedly I fought back tears a couple of times. It’s possible that this is because I’ve known Alex for 10 years and seeing the film I had sweaty palms as I watched his reality unfold on the big screen. I also had an odd sense of feeling proud. Proud of my friends, Alex for his unabashed trueness to himself and Jimmy and Chai for this extraordinary film they’ve made. No great film is made without a solid team and seeing my friends @mikeylikesrocks @cheynelempe working in truly hard conditions, the conditions I’m referring to are the emotional struggle they faced while filming their friend risk his life. I’ve personally lost a lot of friends over the years in the climbing and base jumping community, it never gets easier. Alex, we love you brother, I won’t even bother saying “stay safe” because I know that you do what you do as safely and calculatedly as you can. I also know you do it because it’s your passion and in that I empathize. To anyone reading, see this film, you won’t regret it.
