In celebration of International Orangutan Day on Sunday, Aug. 19, all week we are introducing you to our orangutans and sharing tips on how you can help these great apes in their native habitats. ❤️? Meet Lucy! She was born here in March 1973 and is the eldest of our orangutans at 45 years old. Lucy often delights visitors by sitting up against the glass, and is the only orangutan who chooses not to travel the O-Line. She is a Bornean-Sumatran orangutan; that means she has one Bornean parent and one Sumatran parent. Visitors can see Lucy in the Great Ape House every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
