Traveling down the Amazon with friends new and old. When I travel I’m always reminded that there is beauty and brokenness everywhere. The community of Bélen in Iquitos, where a community is built on the river because the land is free (it’s really only land the half of the year that the river is down, the rest of the time their homes are either flooded or floating), is full of it. Joy and suffering, sorrow and hope, fear and tremendous courage, strength and kindness. Some places are better at hiding the hard parts, but it’s everywhere. I pray that we are lights where there is darkness, here or there. Wherever we are, I pray we are bright lights, unstoppable love and unreasonable hope. @helponenow
