Photo by @Gerd Ludwig. Not far from the Italian city of Bolzano, Runkelstein Castle sits on a rocky spur high above the Talfer River in the Dolomite mountain range of the Italian Alps. The medieval castle was built in 1237 and is home to one of the largest preserved medieval fresco cycles dating back to the year 1400, some depicting King Arthur and his knights.
