Photograph by @Cristina Mittermeier // Two meters or seven feet long. That is the wingspan of the black-browed albatross. Compare that to the average height of a human being, which is 5.7 feet or 170 cm, and you can start imagining just how large these beautiful birds are. I photographed this one on a late afternoon as it was approaching the colony at Steeple Jason Island, West Falklands. The island, owned by The Wildlife Conservation Society, offers permanent protection to a massive number of nesting albatross and helps ensure that this species continues to thrive. #FollowMe to see more images from this uplifting and fascinating #Assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック from 2015. #Falklands #Malvinas #Albatross #Wildlife #Explore
