Itsukushima Shrine is considered one of the 3 most famous views in Japan. Can’t miss seeing its giant Torii at sunset. At high tide it appears to be floating on the sea; at low tide you can walk under it. The Torii is believed to be the boundary between the spirit and the human worlds. Its serenity belies the scenes across the bay in the flood zones of Hiroshima Prefecture. Fortunately there is no damage to the shrine. Our hearts go out to the flood victims in western Japan. #miyajima #itsukushima #torii #itsukushimashrine
