The two best miracles that my life has known: my mom and being a mom. On the first, there is no other woman I’ve known who has the character, intelligence, gracefulness, spunk, backbone, elegance, humor, discernment, nobility and an ongoing wellspring of life-in-bloom like my mother. She is my best friend (really and truly), my favorite travel adventurer, the person I laugh with the most and whose company I never for one second tire of. If I could live my life a million times over, I would want her as my mom and friend every last time. She really is all that and in fact the most real deal of any I’ve known. I am the richest of daughters.

On the second, there is no greater gift and privilege than being entrusted to raise, guide and love this miracle of a human who is my son. The only time in my life where I wholeheartedly wish I could go back and re-live every moment a second/third/infinite time over (even with the massive sleep deprivation of the first year) is with him. Discovering who he is, what makes his heart come to life and the fact that he shares it so vulnerably and openly with me is the best honor and delight of my heart. I love all of it and I never feel the need to escape from it. No one inspires me like the this one-of-a-kind valiant and tender-hearted soul. And I trust him. I trust how he sees and discerns and his dynamic unadulterated lens on life. I am the richest of all moms.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and mom-figures out there. And sending big love to those whose hearts are hurting today. It’s bittersweet here for our own reasons, especially being the first year of not hearing my Dad call early in the morning to be the very first to wish me a happy Mother’s Day. But I can feel his smile here today which makes me smile too.
