And sorely behind on correspondence, emails and the like. It’s interesting what the soul grasps before reality moves. A couple weeks before my Dad passed, I felt a sudden need to clear out my schedule, to have more space, quiet and stillness. It was with such an urgency and abruptness. The inward preparations for what was to come started its process. . . When life brings shaking it seems to reveal the seasons. People we thought would be around for the long haul fall away and those we thought were there for a season take on a new light. It rattles and rearranges priorities and shifts our GPS onto new roads and landscapes. What we value changes, how we see alters and we grow more into who we truly are. We’re no longer the same, nor want to be and it’s for the better. It’s the gift we get for enduring the hardest mystery to muscle through. . . This isn’t exactly “Happy Friday!” fare but it’s what my Friday encompasses. And I’m thankful for it. There is beauty in the grit. Cleansing in the shaking. A reminder that love is eternal and never goes away. And to soak in every last bit of the beautiful moments that we’re gifted with those we love.
