The interior of Iceland is one of the largest territories in Europe that has never been inhabited and is one of the last great wilderness areas, but like most areas that are rich in natural beauty, this land is at risk. One thing that photography allows us to do is give a voice to places that don’t have one. These rivers colored with glacial sediment travel all the way from the glacier to the sea. Power lines, paved roads, and dams are being discussed, which would destroy this land and cause the rivers to disappear. This land can’t speak for itself, but you can. Establishing this area as a national park would guarantee the protection of this unique landscape and facilitate responsible management and use for recreation, traditional land use, and tourism.
