Hi everyone! I’m Xiaorui Zhu-Nowell (@xzhunowell), Curatorial Assistant at the Guggenheim Museum, and I’ll be taking over the museum’s Instagram account for the day. I just returned from the #GuggenheimTravel: China trip, where we visited eight artist studios in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. Follow my posts today as I share a glimpse into the artist’s studios. These dynamic and variegated studio spaces are all worthy of attention, and each one provided a unique opportunity to see the artist through their studio—a space typically kept private. Each of these artists was included in the exhibition: “Art and China after 1989: Theater of the World,” which I’ve been working on since 2014. The show had a terrific run in New York in 2017 and will open at @museoguggenheim on May 11, 2018.
