Mingma Lhamu Sherpa and Dawa Yangzum Sherpa, (@dawayangzum) Namche Bazar, Khumbu, Nepal. Mingma is a relative of @davidlama_official and remembered meeting us in November 2016. Dawa and Mingma are second cousins so the two of them met up for tea. Dawa attended the @khumbuclimbingcenter in 2010. In 2012 she was part of our Everest expedition, reaching the summit on 25 May with @エミリー・ハリントン. She was part of the first all female (and Sherpani!) team to climb K2 in 2014. Dawa became the first Nepali woman to earn the IFGMA guide certification. A recent profile in @outsidemagazine chronicled her start from Beding, Rowaling (population 200) to an international caliber climber. Over the 16 years @jenniloweanker and I have been part of the vocational training that is the KCC it is stories like Dawa’s and @pasang_lhamu_sherpa_akita ‘s that inspire us.
