Swipe left to see the entire view. A massive fireball (bright meteor) crossed half way across the sky on the peak night of Perseid Meteor Shower, last August. The setting moon shines on the landscape with El Capitan and Half Dome in the right end.
There are about a dozen notable annual meteor showers. In average the Perseids is one of the best and most watched. The peak this year will be on the night of August 12/13.
