My favorite lens?
Whether I’m photographing a landscape or a portrait, I tend to feel the need to be as close as possible. There is an intimacy that can be created even when shooting nature that is only felt when approaching your subject, rather than just zooming in from far away. If I had to use one single lens for the rest of my life it would probably be the 16-35mm. ( which allows for a natural perspective) This lens forces me to shoot wide and never exceed a perspective that the eye would not see. Even when I’m shooting out of a plane, where it’s easiest to shoot a telephoto or long Zoom lens, I love the wide perspective that makes the ground and mountains feel bigger & even the natural curvature of the lens that the horizon takes on. In the end it’s all about personal preference. But I love feeing close to my subject.
