ニューヨーク・タイムズのインスタグラム(nytimes) - 4月29日 03時47分

6 months ago, an @nycparks parks official came across 2 cardboard boxes that had been sitting around for decades. Inside were 2,924 color slides, pictures of parks across NYC’s 5 boroughs late in the summer of 1978. Until now, none of these images have ever been displayed or published. They’re the work of 8 @ニューヨーク・タイムズ staff photographers. That summer, a strike at the city’s newspapers meant that they had some time on their hands. So they met with the city parks commissioner, Gordon J. Davis, and proposed to wander the city. “I was skeptical, but I said OK,” Gordon said. “What they came back with made me cry.” In the pictures, New Yorkers play drums in the wild. They soak their feet in fountains. They roast entire pigs. No one holds a smartphone. Life, uncurated. Visit the link in our profile to see more of these photos, or see them in person at the Arsenal Gallery in @centralparknyc from May 3 through June 14. | The names of the people and specific places shown in these pictures have been lost in time.
