I don’t know how much I’ll be posting here in the next few days but I had planned to share this one before everything changed. This post is for my Dad. My journey with fountain pens began with him so it will be something special that always connects me with him. Pelikan was among his favorite pen makers. This one, the Souverän 600 Turquoise White, arrived the day he passed away, 16 April 2018, two days ago and three months before his next birthday. I had the blessing to be featured in Pelikan’s spring edition magazine and had been waiting to surprise him with the news upon its arrival here and sending a copy to him. I know he would have been so proud because he made it such a point that I knew - like really knew - each time we spoke. The quote down below is what I wrote on the stationery that day. I think it’s fitting. Here’s to you, Dad. I love you best.

Thank you from my heart to everyone for your outpouring of love. My apologies for delayed responses. I’m moving in waves and learning how to walk again. I feel like the floor dropped. I miss his voice and presence more than anything. It was home.

A heartfelt thank you to @pelikan_international for gifting this beautiful pen which of course writes impeccably and now holds a new special meaning. I feel my Dad’s smile is carried in it. And I will always think of him when I write with it. I’m not sure how I can trek on with #the100dayproject in #100daysofhappy, but I think this can qualify for it in its own way.
