Sarah Jessica Parker, Willem Dafoe and Kathy Bates all have one thing in common: They started off in the 1980s on the New York stage. Writing for @tmagazine, Jon Robin Baitz recalls the first #Broadway play he saw after moving to the city early in the ’80s: “Hurlyburly,” with William Hurt, Ron Silver, Harvey Keitelm Cynthia Nixon, Sigourney Weaver and Judith Ivey. “You can see them all now as icons, but back then they were like ions — in kinetic motion, orchestrated by the shaper of all molecules, director Mike Nichols,” Jon writes. @シンシア・ニクソン — now a running for governor of New York, but then just 18 — was in 2 shows at the same time. “She had to race back and forth between this raging behemoth of an American play and a cleareyed British one, Tom Stoppard’s ‘The Real Thing,’ just a few blocks away.” Follow @tmagazine to watch these stars remember the Golden Age of New York theatre.
