"Tattooing the faces of young girls in parts of the Chin state of Myanmar was an ancient custom done to prevent invaders from stealing away the local women. Each area of Chin state has a distinct tattoo pattern, but the practice has now been banned for some time. In taking this photo, I found the background first, and then positioned the subject to be next to the face of the young lady already painted onto the side of the house.
