A massive barchan dune migrates across a sandy peninsula in Baja California, Mexico. The trade winds are strong and constant here, but it takes many years to move this much sand from beach to bay. The gulf in the background is Laguna Ojo de Liebre, the world’s gathering site for California grey #whales that swim down from Alaska every winter to mate and give birth.
