Hope Hicks has left the building. The White House communications director who directed President Trump through crisis after crisis decided to leave after she became part of the story. Perhaps no one in the president’s orbit has prompted as much curiosity as the 29-year-old from Connecticut, whose unlikely career trajectory kept pace with @ドナルド・トランプ’s own unorthodox rise. White House aides say her most valuable role was her ability to translate and interpret the president’s thinking, and push back when necessary. After sending her first emails of the day around 4:30 a.m., #HopeHicks could often be found in this closet-sized office within earshot of the Oval Office, where she’d wait for the inevitable call from the president: “Hopester,” he would call out. Or, “Hopey!” Now, there’s a palpable worry among those in the West Wing about about what will happen when she’s gone — even though it had become clear that she’d been exhausted. Our photographer @nytmills took this photo of #HopeHicks in her office on her last day. Visit the link in our profile to read more.
