First look! Cao Fei’s (@Cao_Fei) new video work is a commission for the Guggenheim's Robert H.N. Ho Family Foundation Chinese Art Initiative, and part of the artist's installation in #OneHandClapping, opening May 4. A sequel to “Whose Utopia” (2006), the lushly imagined video is set in a package distribution center and offers a reflection on our relationship with the things we produce and purchase. Under Cao Fei’s direction, the massive, windowless space, with its repeating forms of conveyor belts and metal shelves, becomes a place suspended between reality and a dream state.
