We’re celebrating some heroes that you shared with us on Facebook for women’s month and today is Ginny Gonzalez’s mother who is her woman’s month hero - from Ginny - “Cyndi, my mother Lucila, 88, is also my hero. Mom passed away just over one month ago after a few yrs worth of a valiant fight w Alzheimer's. Mom emigrated to the US back in the early 1960s from Colombia, South America for a better life after the death of her young husband and two cgildren to support w/ zero support from her mother or siblings. Mom remarried and went to work w/ two additional kids and I came last a few yrs later here in the US. Mom worked two jobs and sewed on the side to make ends meet which was lifesaving when my father left her. Mom instilled in us the value of respect, education, work ethic, discipline, gentility and assimilation and gratitude to our country for giving us these opportunities. She sewed, she took care of children, she had homemade meals on the table daily and she supported our interests and careers. She was beautiful inside and out and weathered so much hurt, disappointment, embarrassment and disrespect, I just don't know how she did it! I am half the person she was and I can only hope I come closer to being the grand human being she was all the way to the end. My hero: my beloved Mom. ?” #womensmonth #celebratestrongwomen
