Is it just me or does anybody else notice the extreme difference clothes and makeup makes to your self confidence as a woman? I’d say I spend around 96% of my time being an utter tomboy, smashing weights at the gym, rocking hoodies and leggings and raising my young family with messy hair and chipped nails. Flip that to the 4% when I go out and it feels pretty alien for me to put on sooooo much makeup and perfume, I walk wonky in high heels and can’t always fit my back and biceps into slinky dresses and blouses if I’m too pumped from the gym but I really love the transformation. I love the escapism and freedom I get from scrubbing up and feeling glam and girly and I think if I lived everyday that way, constantly concerned with looking my best then it wouldn’t have so much of an uplifting effect on me, it would feel like a chore and not a treat. I’d never want to get to the point of feeling unattractive without makeup, I’d never want to constantly have to reapply or redo my face day and night and although my boyfriend probably prefers it when I look my best I wouldn’t want to live my life not looking and feeling like myself when I look in the mirror. I’m reassured that he accepts me for who I naturally am. We’re all our own worst critics and undoubtedly have a long list of things we’d like to change about our appearance, but it’s all about finding that healthy balance, accepting what is whilst making the best of what you have and if somebody can’t handle you at your worst then they sure as hell don’t deserve you at your best my darlings! --------------------------
