Wishing all of the mummy’s in the world a very happy Mother’s Day today. One thing I know that really concerned me when I had my first child was the effect pregnancy had on my body. I went from being a size UK6 to a UK10 in the space of just a few months as my pregnancy was discovered late and I hadn’t ever eaten properly. Being a model there was no room for bodyfat on photoshoots and I’d frequently skip meals and constantly feel weak. To see my entire body change was very hard to come to terms with because it wasn’t something I was mentally prepared for. Not only did I get ‘fat’ but from the pressure of carrying a child I also got stretch marks to my hips, thighs and stomach and my skin became red raw, itched and entrenched. It broke my heart and took a very long time for me to even look at my reflection in the mirror. Children are a blessing and I wouldn’t change my beautiful babies for the world but emotionally I detested my body so young. I don’t think enough public figures discuss the effect pregnancy has our bodies in respect to mental health. These two pictures were taken today just a few seconds apart, in the first I’m relaxed and breathing normally, in the second I’m pushing my stomach out the furthest it will go. I train 6-7 days per week at the gym and can still puff my belly out like I’m pregnant if I push hard enough and breathing in I can expose my ribs - this is the power of training muscles. I’ve used tattoos to cover my stretch marks, fitness to rebuild my stomach muscles and vegan nutrition to lose bodyfat. The word ‘fat’ upsets me because so many strong, beautiful, sexy, inspiring hard working mothers feel ‘fat’ after having children and I strongly believe people shouldn’t be divided into numbers on a scale. Mums rock! There is no size perfect, we’ve created life and deserve to love, embrace and celebrate our bodies in every form possible! #mothersday #mumbod #mumbody #mombod #mombody #postpregnancy #beforeandafter #transformation #stretchmarks #mummytummy #girlpower #lioness #lovetheskinyourein #mentalhealth #healthy #happy #bodyconfidence #selfesteem #selfworth #yolo #motherhood #realtalk #weightloss #bodyfat #fat #woman #women #sisterhood
