Photograph by @andyparkinsonphoto/@thephotosociety Three lion cubs – We’ve had a last minute cancellation to our upcoming photographic tour to the legendary South Luangwa National Park in Zambia and so if anyone has got this astonishing country on their bucket list then I’ve put the link for this 9 day trip in my bio. I’ll be leading the trip for @tatraphotography and I’ll be on hand at all times to offer my guidance as well as ensuring that our vehicles will always be in the best place for the guests, not for me! This is what happened with this opportunity but annoying bushes aside it was great when these three cubs kept swivelling their heads in unison as they were transfixed by a wildebeest herd passing close by. Whilst the guests in the three rows behind me all had a clear and uninterrupted views of all three lions I do still love the feel of this image, flaws and all, and I was fortunate at least that I could keep their eyes free from any distracting branches. In order to try and focus attention solely on the cubs I used my big 600mm lens but, rather than stopping down to try and bring all three lions into focus I instead opted to shoot at a relatively narrow F5. Had I tried to bring them all into focus then other distractions would have gained prominence in the image which would have been significantly to its detriment. Instead I simply allowed the furthest lion to drift out of focus whilst trying to keep both of the lions at front in sharp focus. Lion’s will be a primary target species to work with on this trip and South Luangwa is not only one of the best places on Earth to photograph them but it is also an extremely rich habitat for leopards also. If you have any questions at all then please do feel free to get in touch with me at [email protected] Please #followme at @andyparkinsonphoto to keep up-to-date with my images @andyparkinsonphoto @natgeo @thephotosociety @tatraphotography #zambia #southluangwa #ethicsbeforeimages #phototips #educateandinspire #nature #naturelovers #wildlifephotography #donoharm #nature_brilliance #majestic_wildlife_ #exclusive_wildlife #featuredwildlife
