Our time in the Alps has been incredible and @adrianballinger and I feel so fortunate to have been able to experience such an amazing winter over here, as they seem to be occurring less and less frequently globally as the years go by ?. I have posted before about my stance on climate change and in support of the fantastic work of organizations like @protectourwinters who work hard to spread the message of climate change and affect change on a governmental level. I am also aware that I am not perfect, and that mine and Adrian's carbon footprints outweigh many just based on our frequent travel alone, but I see that as no reason to be complacent and stop trying to be better. It's Adrian's birthday tomorrow and as his gift I decided to offset his year's worth of travel through @mossy.earth (maybe he will do the same for me on my bday? ?). We were inspired mainly by the good deeds of @alexhonnold, who is one of the best and most articulate advocates for environmental responsibility I know and who really walks the walk in both his personal lifstyle as well as his organization The Honnold Foundation. He told me about @mossy.earth a few months ago and this seemed like a good time to start 'walking the walk' more as well. Check them out and Alex's posts for more details if you're interested [and link in my profile]. And in the sage words of Honnold: "it's easy to criticize offsets in various ways, but my basic feeling is that we shouldn't let perfect be the enemy of good. Carbon offsets aren't a perfect solution, but it's always better to do something than to do nothing and then complain about how helpless we are to affect positive change in the world." Oh and Happy Birthday AB! Hope we get to ski some more pow together ❤❄?
