What helps me feel grounded, centered, nourished?
2 things that first come to mind are daily personal practice and nourishing food.
Food is a big one. In the past when I was stressed I would either restrict myself and undereat or end up mindlessly overeating and both patterns would contribute to not feeling good in my body and so much more stressed.
That still happens sometimes but I am a lot more conscious about trying to plan regular healthy, nourishing meals during these times of mental stress.
By knowing that I don't have to think about what I'm going to eat and how I'll feel afterwards it takes a massive load off my mind. And when I'm getting all the nutrients my body needs then I crave less comfort foods but I'm also in a better space mentally to choose when I want to have them and how much.
Exercise and movement is very important for me too but I find that over-exercising can be just as unbalancing as under exercising.. which is where my daily practice comes in to help me keep aware and balanced. I'll write about that soon ?
