The American athlete @chloekimsnow lived up to her reputation as the queen of halfpipe snowboard today, outsoaring her rivals to win the gold medal in the snowboard halfpipe at the #WinterOlympics. The 17-year-old was expected to overwhelm the competition in #Pyeonchang, and maybe at several more Games after this. She’s been beating the competition for years, but today she revealed her talent and charisma to a broad audience. “I knew that if I went home with a gold medal knowing I could do better, I wasn’t going to be very satisfied,” she said at the bottom of the pipe. Pressure? Maybe. But before her late-morning run, @chloekimsnow logged on to Twitter to tell her growing legion of fans that she was hungry. @nytchangster took this photo of #ChloeKim, who’s set to become the face of snowboarding.
