The stock markets have taken investors for a wild ride over the past week, with jitters in the United States spreading around the world. But #WallStreet had a better day yesterday. Investors refocused on the continuing strength of the American economy as shares of consumer companies helped lead broad indexes higher. After the sudden swing from euphoria to anxiety, though, investors are bracing for uncertainty. What do Wall Street’s ups and downs look like? “Americans have pictured the stock market the exact same way for generations,” writes @samuelhodgson, who took these photos.
