A trick with kale is to make sure you remove the bitter stems from the leaves. I also like to compliment the kale with a citrus fruit, which helps cut any remaining bitterness. I'm not naturally kale smoothie girl ( I love spinach in my smoothies) so this recipe has been perfected to win me over.
