“In 2018 I want equal rights for everyone; to be noticed, to not be silenced, and not be looked at as angry when you want to speak up for what you want," said Alenitu Caldart. A year after millions of women took to the streets to protest President Trump’s inauguration, marchers are gathering again this weekend in hundreds of cities across the U.S. and the world, as they try to build on a movement that has only grown in its ambition. Alenitu demonstrated in #Milwaukee with her mom and a group of friends. “I went to the Women's March last year in D.C. and I'm really impressed with the turnout here in Milwaukee,” said the 15-year-old, who lives in Shorewood, Wisconsin. “Both marches have the same message. It doesn't matter the location, we all want one thing: equality for everybody and to stand up for those who are being oppressed.” @sarastathas took this photo while on assignment at the #WomensMarch in Milwaukee. She’s one of a number of photographers on #nytassignment today around the United States. We’ll share more @womensmarch photos later today.
