First up, I decided to try 3 days of juice cleansing and kinesiology with @orchardstlove and @medicinalalchemy to detox physically and emotionally and start the new year feeling healthy and clear, NOT to lose weight. In the past I have been ambivalent about trying a juice cleanse or any rigidity around restricting food intake after coming from years of orthorexic (rigid healthy eating and over exercising) tendencies. People have been messaging me about whether I think it is ‘healthy’ which sparked awareness around a key piece of my healing journey that I think is important to share. The power of mindfulness and intention in how I relate to my body and food. For me, the key part of coming back to a healthy relationship with my body and with food has been committing to INTUITIVE EATING with intentions of NOURISHMENT and SELF-LOVE. I make decisions around food and exercise with the desire to feel healthy, strong and nourished in MY body, not skinny or like any other person’s body looks in THEIR version of healthy. Orchard St. balances a mix of juices, tonics and smoothies to keep you feeling full and nourished whilst detoxing. When my energy levels were lowest, the juice that it was time to drink was sweeter and fuller to help get me through. Orchard St recommends tailoring your cleanse to what your body needs. They give suggestions for snacks that won’t interrupt the detox process when you feel like you need something extra (which I did more than once). How I’m feeling on the morning of day 4 I feel light and energetic. My belly is flat. My eyes and skin look brighter. I took a barre class and my muscles feel noticeably weaker. Food tastes AMAZING. It is a new level sensual experience. After drinking juices for 3 days, I feel renewed awareness and care for what I am choosing to put in my body and very excited to eat some yummy food. @Orchardstlove THANK YOU!
