For the last 56 years, Asian elephant Ambika ? has been a part of our Smithsonian’s National Zoo family. In 1961, she was given to the Zoo as a gift from the children of India. Last August, we celebrated a BIG milestone—her 70th birthday—on World Elephant Day! This week, we are ringing in the New Year with a look back at some of our favorite moments with Ambika.
