Totally unrelated to my post-workout selfie with @womensbest #womensbest How many of you have been struggling with getting back on track? because I’ve found re-establishing my routine and diet quite difficult. Everything has been thrown off by the silly season.

During my criminology studies I learnt about ‘The Broken Windows’ theory. You may be wondering how is this related to fitness, well the premise of the theory is that once something is neglected, i.e. a window is broken, the respect for that building or neighbourhood is lowered and unless repaired, encourages increased crime and vandalism. This effect snowballs and more damage is done and if it goes unrepaired this negative behaviour continues until the property/neighbourhood becomes derelict.

Same applies to exercise, diet and respect for your body. Just because your diet has been off track or you’ve missed a workout or two doesn’t mean you’re broken. Don’t completely give up just because you may feel that you’ve gone backwards, you’re not beyond repair. You don’t need to perpetuate bad habits simply because you’ve had a few off days. Be kind to yourself, respect your body, you will get back on track.
