// Darkness returns to the Arctic during the winter months, opening up the stage for the northern lights. Besides being the shortest day of the year, the winter solstice marks the Arctic Circle as the line where the sun never rises above the horizon during those 24 hours. For me it is special as it marks my birthday :) I still remember this magical night with a crystal clear arctic sky. It was 30 below.
