With four days until Christmas it melts and breaks my heart at the very same time to celebrate this very special occasion. Being a single mother I love seeing my children happy when their wishes and dreams come true after they’ve worked so hard at school and behaved so well all year. I love being able to give them the presents and luxuries I didn’t have as a child but most importantly I love that they help me to help others and give back without expecting anything in return. Throughout the year we donate our clothes, shoes and toys to charity shops to be repurposed and sold on to help those less fortunate. We donate food to the church to feed the homeless and practise doing good deeds for those who need a little extra smile throughout their day, whether it’s holding a door open, allowing a family to cross the road safely when driving, being polite and welcoming or putting pennies into a charity pot. The little everyday pieces of kindness add up to a whole lot of love that we can all build and share together. It saddens me to think of those who are struggling and suffering at this time of year. Today I drove my mum to the hospital to continue her cancer treatment knowing that when I pick her up she’ll be so weak and in pain and too sick to do Christmas. This bag of presents is for my family who I’ll be spending Christmas with at their house, cooking dinner and entertaining as my mum would have done so very wonderfully if only she could. My heart swells for all who are absent at this special time, for the angels who sleep peacefully in heaven and those who are far too far away.
