Last night, Saturday Night Fever returned to Brooklyn. (Yes, it was a Wednesday.) To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the cult classic, an Italian businessman spent more than $200,000 to turn a Chinese restaurant back into 2001 Odyssey, the discotheque where the movie was filmed. The party lasted one night — and one night only. “When I feel a little tired, when I feel I cannot have success with what I want to do, I watch this film once more and I feel strong again,” said the host, Gianluca Mech, who wore a custom-made version of the white 3-piece suit made famous by John Travolta. “Saturday Night Fever” changed his life, he said. He snuck in to see it with his sister when he was an 8-year-old kid in Italy. The film, which was filmed in Brooklyn, follows John Travolta’s character Tony Manero, who spends most weekends dancing while dreaming about a brighter future. @damonwinter photographed Gianluca hitting the dance floor in his $5,000 suit. The only thing missing? Bell bottoms. #?
