The menacing Mount Agung volcano spews volcanic ash in Karangasem, on the Indonesian island of Bali, on Nov. 26, 2017. Authorities raised the alert to the highest level at 6 a.m., local time, on Monday and ordered those within 6 miles (10 km.) to evacuate, the Associated Press reports. The geological agency said the alert was raised after the volcano shifted from steam-based eruptions to magmatic eruptions, but that a major eruption was still not expected, AP adds. Its last major eruption, in 1963, killed about 1,100 people. Disaster authorities said Bali's international airport had closed but would be reopened, possibly on Tuesday, after an evaluation.
