At least 200 people were killed in a gun and bomb attack at a mosque in the volatile northern Sinai Peninsula on Nov. 24, 2017, according to Egyptian state news media. Officials said militants in four off-road vehicles bombed the mosque and fired on worshippers during the sermon segment of Friday prayers, the Associated Press reports. Egyptian media, citing official sources, said another 130 people were wounded in the attack on the al-Rawdah mosque, which is largely attended by Sufi Muslims, in the town of Bir al-Abd.
