Lets talk about the MARATHON ? So yesterday my beautiful friends @twicethehealth offered me a place in London Marathon. My initial reaction was YES. What an opportunity. I should totally take it! ? However I then sat down and really thought about it. My heart said yes, but my head said no. Endurance sport is amazing and I hugely admire those who run marathons. I do want to run one some day. But it's not something to be taken lightly. Often people throw themselves into marathons without really thinking about it. In reality it's a huge deal. You NEED to be savvy. See a physio before you start training. Get a gait analysis. Work around any imbalances. Get regular check ups as you go along. Have a coach and a proper training program. And dedicate hours every week to your runs ? It's a huge commitment, and with my absolutely manic schedule over the coming months I just don't think I would be able to do it safely. If I'm going to do a marathon, I'm going to do it right. And this year I cant do that. My body, performance and health are too precious to me to risk it ? So the takeaway message is this: endurance sport is INCREDIBLE but please think long and hard before throwing yourself in at the deep end. You need to be able to commit to it wholeheartedly to avoid injury and to enjoy the journey. And if you do take part? Do it safely ?
