The maker of this commode is unknown, but its semi-elliptical form was undoubtedly inspired by Robert Adam, one of England's leading architects in the 18th century. Adam's illustrated book ‘Works in Architecture’ was popular for providing inspiration for craftsmen. #ChristiesTheCollector
