Though limon giant glass frogs like this one at @ZooATL are the largest of their related species, they actually only reach about 3.7 cm in length. They require humid environments and are extremely difficult to spot among the dense vegetation of Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia. They have extensively webbed toes, prominent nostrils, and grey, forward facing eyes with horizontal pupils and black reticulations. Since the invasion of the chytrid fungus in Central America, this and many other amphibian species populations have begun to decline. Thankfully, there are currently many breeding and conservation programs in action to help save them.
