Let's talk about bodyweight training. I've always been an advocate of lifting weights, and I still am ?? However a while ago I realised, sure I can lift weights but I can't lift my own body weight?! As my life has got busier and my training has become more eratic, I've had to let go of my regimented weight lifting routine. Don't get me wrong, I still lift and I love it. But I've been embracing short bodyweight workouts more and more since they fit in with my schedule. And you know what? I feel amazing. I used to avoid jumping lunges at all costs and collapse after a couple of reps. Now I can do them easily. I used to avoid burpees. Now I love them. (Yes, I love burpees ?). I'm actually training LESS than I have in a long time. I used to be scared of reducing my weight training as I didn't want to lose my strength. However, I may have lost the ability to lift 100kg but I've gained so much more. Right now I FEEL the fittest I've ever felt. And that's a pretty awesome feeling! ??
