Photo and text by Corey Arnold @arni_coraldo | Matthew’s birthday landed on the fourth day of the Opilio crab season every year. I was a fellow deckhand aboard the f/v Rollo which was usually smack in the middle of a hellish bender of long work days in sloppy seas on January 19th. This year in 2005, I decided to surprise him with a piñata stuffed with candy and plastic toy horses. It was 18F degrees outside with 25 foot seas and the deck was glazed like an ice skating rink. Happy early Birthday, Matthew. .
