Coconut Oil, Almond Butter and Flaxseeds are great sources of healthy fats and usually my staple for the entire year. Coconut oil is high in saturated fat which is typically considered an unhealthy fat but there's an exception to that rule. The fat is actually convert to MCT, medium chain triglycerides which are digested faster then other fats and have a thermogenic effect on your metabolism. This makes it a great choice to have pre-workout to help your body burn fat! . Almond Butter on the other hand is high in Omega-3’s which means an awesome anti-inflammatory. These help your body stay in an equilibrium because it isn’t at an inflammatory state. If you are not inflamed then you will have a metabolism which will more easily do what you want it to do, build muscle, burn fat, or both. Almond butter is great as a healthy morning fat if you aren’t heading straight to the gym or a few hours after your workout! . Flaxseeds are an awesome source of healthy anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids and heart healthy polyunsaturated fats. They provide some carbs but it’s all fiber. Between the healthy fats and fiber these seeds are not only going to fill you up but will help keep you regular. *Major key for contest dieting. The healthy fats and fiber also help lower cholesterol and lower the risk of diabetes, as well as blood sugar indicators for those with diabetes. .
